Interim Communications Lead: Maternity Cover at UN Women UK

Our Head of Communications is going on maternity leave. We’re looking for an experienced communications professional to lead our comms while she’s away.

The role combines strategy with hands-on writing. You’ll set direction and hold the messaging across our campaigns, lead our major fundraising appeals, and report monthly on how our communications are performing. You’ll also write key materials yourself. These include briefs and follow-up emails for our Briefing Club, and email and copy support around campaign moments.

Social media content is made by our Digital Content Creator, so it isn’t part of this role. You’ll work closely with them to keep campaigns joined up.

Days are flexible and can be shaped around you. The work has natural peaks, particularly around International Women’s Day in March and major appeals.

We exist to take action on gender equality here in the UK. Whilst supporting the work of our UN Women family around the world. Because gender equality is an urgent issue both in the UK and across the globe.

We’re here for all women and non-binary people who experience gender discrimination. We understand this impacts differently at the intersections of gender, race, disability, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity and socio-ecconomic background.

When we talk about women, we’re talking about ALL women from across those intersectionalities.

We’re particularly keen to receive applications from people from the LGBTQIA community, people of colour, people with working class backgrounds and people with disabilities.
